The intelligent electromagnetic flowmeter consists of two parts: a sensor and a converter. It operates based on Faraday's law of electromagnetic induction and is used to measure the volumetric flow of conductive liquids with conductivity greater than 5μS/cm. It is an inductive instrument for measuring the volumetric flow of conductive media. In addition to measuring the volumetric flow of general conductive liquids, it can also be used to measure the volumetric flow of highly corrosive liquids such as strong acids and strong alkalis, as well as uniform liquid-solid two-phase suspended liquids such as slurry, ore pulp, and paper pulp. It is widely used for flow measurement in industrial sectors such as petroleum, chemical, metallurgy, light textile, papermaking, environmental protection, and food, as well as in municipal administration, water conservancy construction, river dredging, and other fields.

 

II. Working Principle 

According to the principle of Faraday electromagnetic induction, a pair of detection electrodes is installed on the pipe wall perpendicular to the measuring tube axis and the magnetic field lines. When the conductive liquid moves along the axis of the measuring tube, the conductive liquid cuts the magnetic field lines and generates an induced electromotive force. This induced electromotive force is detected by the two electrodes, and its value is directly proportional to the flow rate. Its value is:
   E=KBVD 
   Where: 
   E-induced electromotive force;
   K-coefficient related to magnetic field distribution and axial length;
   B-magnetic induction intensity;
   V-average velocity of conductive liquid;
   D-electrode spacing; (inner diameter of measuring tube)
   The sensor uses the induced electromotive force E as the flow signal and transmits it to the converter. After amplification, conversion, filtering, and a series of digital processing, the instantaneous flow and cumulative flow are displayed on a backlit dot-matrix LCD. The converter has 420mA output, alarm output, and frequency output, and is equipped with communication interfaces such as RS485, and supports HART and MODBUS protocols.

 

III. Instrument Features

Fully digital processing, strong anti-interference capability, reliable measurement, high accuracy, and a flow measurement range up to 1501;
Ultra-low EMI switching power supply, suitable for a wide power supply voltage variation range, with excellent EMI resistance;
Adopts a 16-bit embedded microprocessor, featuring fast computing speed and high accuracy, with programmable frequency low-frequency rectangular wave excitation,  improving the stability of flow measurement and reducing power consumption;
Uses SMD components and surface mount (SMT) technology, providing high circuit reliability;
No moving parts and no flow-blocking parts inside the pipeline, resulting in almost no additional pressure loss during measurement;
The range can be modified online on site according to the user's actual needs;
The measurement results are unrelated to physical parameters such as flow distribution, fluid pressure, temperature, density, and viscosity;
High-definition backlit LCD display, full Chinese menu operation, convenient to use, simple to operate, easy to learn and understand;
Equipped with digital communication signal outputs such as RS485, RS232, Hart, and Modbus; (optional)

With self-check and self-diagnosis functions;
Hourly total recording function, recording the total flow by hour, suitable for time-of-use metering systems (optional);
Internally equipped with three totalizers, which can respectively display forward cumulative flow, reverse cumulative flow, and differential cumulative value. It also has a power-failure clock inside and can record 16 power-off times. (optional);
 Infrared handheld operator, 115KHZ communication rate, remotely operates all functions of the converter without contact over a long distance (optional).
