There is no single fixed answer for the delivery lead time of custom liquid level sensors. Conventional modified products can generally be completed within 7 to 15 working days. Projects involving special measuring ranges, non-standard flanges, high-temperature and high-pressure structures, or explosion-proof requirements typically take 15 to 30 working days. If structural redesign, process verification, and pilot batch production are required, the overall lead time may extend to 30 to 45 working days.
When requesting a quotation, purchasers should not focus solely on “how soon can it be shipped?” They should also confirm whether sample approval, technical drawing confirmation, production scheduling, calibration and testing, packaging, and shipment have been included in the delivery time. Particularly for level measurement projects used in chemical storage tanks, food containers, wastewater pools, boiler feedwater systems, or automated production lines, whether the initial parameters are fully confirmed will directly affect subsequent manufacturing efficiency.
Relying on the production base of Shaanxi Qinkong Sensor Technology Co., Ltd., Xi'an Shenghongchuang Instrumentation Co., Ltd. can configure pressure-type, submersible, magnetostrictive, radar, and switch-type level measurement and control solutions. For projects with proven structures, the focus is on rapidly verifying operating conditions; for entirely new non-standard requirements, design, prototyping, and delivery need to be arranged based on the technical agreement.
Measuring range is the fundamental parameter for determining lead time. For example, water levels from 0 to 5 m, deep-well liquid levels from 0 to 20 m, and tank liquid levels from 0 to 100 m have different requirements for probe rods, vented cables, probe sealing, and calibration ranges. The more specialized the range, the more necessary it is to confirm the compatibility of the sensing element and actual calibration conditions.
Medium properties must not be overlooked either. Clean water, diesel, edible oil, acid and alkali solutions, sludge, adhesives, and high-viscosity slurry have significantly different requirements for wetted materials, diaphragm types, and anti-clogging structures. 316L stainless steel, PTFE, Hastelloy, or sanitary polished structures will all affect material preparation and processing time.
Output and power supply methods affect circuit configuration and burn-in testing. 4-20mA two-wire systems, 0-10V, RS485, frequency output, relay switching output, and 24VDC power supply solutions must all be confirmed according to the control system interface. If simultaneous connection to a PLC, variable frequency drive, digital display meter, and remote monitoring platform is required, the load, cable length, and communication protocol should also be specified in advance.
The installation method determines the machining arrangement for the mechanical structure. Threaded mounting, flange mounting, submersible suspension mounting, side mounting, top mounting, guided-wave rod mounting, and sanitary clamp mounting require different connection dimensions. Flanges such as DN25, DN50, and DN80, or thread specifications such as G1/2 and M20×1.5, should be based on site interface drawings or actual measured dimensions.
It is recommended to provide the medium name, density, temperature, pressure, viscosity, corrosiveness, foaming condition, and vessel structure at the beginning of the project. For sealed tanks, it is also necessary to specify whether vacuum, agitation, steam tracing, and pulsating pressure are present, as these factors are related to the measurement principle and sealing rating selection of the liquid level sensor.
The installation location should clearly indicate whether it is on the tank top, tank side, pool bottom, or an external connecting pipe. If the sensor is installed near a pump, variable frequency drive cabinet, or large motor, the electromagnetic interference environment should be specified so that shielded cables, isolation modules, and anti-interference circuits can be appropriately selected to ensure stable transmission of the 4-20mA signal.
For food, pharmaceutical, or drinking water applications, in addition to specifying the medium, the sanitary requirements of wetted parts, cleaning method, and temperature should also be clearly defined. Food-grade liquid level sensors usually require attention to wetted materials, surface treatment, seal compatibility, and relevant compliance documents, preventing rework caused by changes in site audit requirements after the product is completed.
Complete inquiry information should at least include measuring range, accuracy requirements, supply voltage, output signal, process connection, installation dimensions, and quantity. For 24VDC liquid level sensors, the site humidity level, required protection rating, junction box, waterproof connector, and cable outlet direction should also be specified to avoid water ingress or signal fluctuations after installation.
If the site control system uses a two-wire loop, it is necessary to confirm the PLC analog input impedance, loop power supply capacity, and whether an intrinsic safety barrier is installed. Two-wire liquid level sensors require less wiring and are suitable for long-distance analog signal transmission, while four-wire products may be more convenient for functional expansion in applications involving independent power supply, display, relay control, or multiple outputs.
For projects requiring direct control of water pumps, replenishment valves, or alarms, the relay contact capacity and load type must be clearly defined. Relay-output liquid level sensors can participate in level interlock control, but high-power motors should not be continuously loaded directly through sensor contacts. Isolation control should generally be implemented through AC contactors, intermediate relays, or control cabinets.
Media such as resins, inks, syrups, sludge, slurries, and adhesives tend to adhere to the measuring end. Conventional small-hole pressure ports may become clogged, respond slowly, or experience zero drift. Depending on medium characteristics, customization can include flush diaphragms, flush mounting, enlarged process openings, or diaphragm seal structures to reduce the risk of material buildup.
Anti-clogging does not simply mean increasing probe size; it also requires comprehensive evaluation in combination with tank cleaning conditions and temperature variations. For high-viscosity liquids, periodic flushing points can be planned. For media prone to solidification, tracing temperature, downtime, and space for sensor removal and maintenance should be evaluated to avoid affecting long-term operation.
Whether frequency-type liquid level sensors offer high accuracy should also be assessed based on the specific measurement method. Frequency signals offer certain anti-interference advantages, but final accuracy still depends on the sensing element, calibration method, temperature compensation, installation condition, and medium fluctuations. When purchasing, comprehensive accuracy should be clearly specified, such as 0.5%FS, 0.25%FS, or higher requirements, rather than comparing output forms alone.
For underground coal mines or locations involving coal dust and methane risks, whether a liquid level sensor must have a coal mine safety certificate should be determined by the equipment location, regulatory requirements, and certification scope of the complete system. General industrial products must not be used as substitutes for equipment with explicit coal mine safety access requirements. The validity of relevant certificates and consistency of model numbers should be verified at the project initiation stage.
For chemical, oil and gas, and combustible gas environments, attention should be given to explosion-proof type, temperature class, protection rating, and installation area classification. If the product is to be used in Zone 0, Zone 1, or Zone 2, site hazardous area classification information should be provided so that technical personnel can confirm whether intrinsically safe, flameproof, or safety barrier solutions are required.
For imported brand replacement projects, for example where the original system uses Yokogawa level products, replacement should not be based solely on interface dimensions. Measuring range, accuracy, process temperature and pressure, output, communication, certification, wetted materials, and installation length should be compared item by item. The value of domestic replacement lies in shortening service response time and controlling spare parts costs, provided that key performance parameters can consistently match site requirements.
Before placing a formal order, it is recommended to use a technical agreement to define the model code, measuring range, accuracy, medium temperature, operating pressure, power supply, output, wiring definition, installation dimensions, materials, and protection rating. For non-standard products, drawing confirmation records are an important basis for avoiding misunderstandings between supply and demand parties and can also make production scheduling more accurate.
Acceptance criteria should specify whether calibration reports, inspection records, certificates of conformity, operating manuals, wiring diagrams, and third-party certification documents are required. For bulk purchases, sampling inspection ratios, allowable errors, and packaging requirements may be agreed upon. For engineering projects, delivery can also be made in batches according to arrival milestones to reduce on-site installation waiting time.
4-20mA liquid level sensors are generally not recommended for direct parallel connection in the same analog loop, because multiple transmitters will affect one another's loop current, preventing the signal from accurately corresponding to a single measured value. Where multi-point display or data acquisition is genuinely required, reliable expansion can be achieved through signal isolators, one-input multiple-output distributors, or PLC communication.
For critical equipment supporting projects, it is recommended to reserve a procurement buffer of at least 10 to 15 working days. If holidays, special material procurement, non-standard flange machining, or explosion-proof configurations are involved, more sufficient time for technical confirmation and logistics should be reserved within the overall project schedule to avoid concentrated compression at final milestones.
Small-batch samples and subsequent bulk orders can be advanced using a “sample first, then batch” approach. Samples are used to verify installation dimensions, signal stability, and control logic. Releasing the bulk production plan after sample approval can significantly reduce the risk of bulk rework, on-site rewiring, and equipment shutdown adjustments.
If custom liquid level sensors are required, site medium, measuring range, temperature and pressure, installation interface, output signal, power supply method, quantity, and expected delivery date can be submitted at one time to the technical team of Xi'an Shenghongchuang Instrumentation Co., Ltd. Professional personnel will evaluate the structural solution, production lead time, and testing requirements to promptly develop an executable selection and delivery plan.
