Correct installation of the RC-RC301 pressure transmitter is a key step in ensuring measurement accuracy. This article explains in detail 5 common critical mistakes during the installation of diffused silicon liquid and gas pressure sensors, including the installation essentials of similar products such as PD50-GB10CM20M4M and FST800211G3451-25B,helping operators avoid risks and extend sensor service life.
When installing diffused silicon pressure transmitters such as PD50-GB10CM20M4M or FST800211G3451-25B,operators often overlook two core factors:media compatibility verification and mechanical stress elimination. Taking the HDA4445-A-250-Y00 model as an example, although its 316L stainless steel diaphragm is suitable for most corrosive media, contact with special chemicals such as hydrofluoric acid can still cause diaphragm perforation. A real case shows that a chemical plant installed the equipment directly without checking the media composition table, resulting in collective failure of a sensor array worth 120,000 yuan within three months. In terms of mechanical stress, the installation torque must be strictly controlled within the range of 15-20N·m. Excessive flange tightening force will cause micro-strain in the internal diffused silicon chip of the sensor, triggering zero drift of up to ±2%FS. A step-by-step tightening method is recommended:first pre-tighten to 5N·m,then gradually increase to the rated value in a crisscross sequence, and finally perform a second verification with a torque wrench. It is worth noting that products with fully sealed stainless steel structures such as Domestic Liquid Level Transmitter KYB19 Fire Water Tank Pool Liquid Level Sensor also need to follow the principles of mechanical stress control during installation.
The technical manual of the STZ2-3 pressure transmitter clearly requires that the ripple factor of the 24VDC power supply be less than 1%,but field investigations show that 68% of failures originate from poor-quality power supply interference. When the CY-H pressure transmitter is powered on the same circuit as a frequency converter,high-frequency pulse noise will cause 0.5% amplitude fluctuation in the 4-20mA signal. Solutions include:using shielded twisted pair cable(AWG18 or above),setting up an independent grounding rod(grounding resistance<4Ω),and installing a magnetic ring filter at the signal cable inlet. For models such as SAM-K that require fieldbus communication, more attention should be paid to terminal resistance matching. In a power plant case, because a 120Ω resistor was not installed at the end of the PROFIBUS-DP network, the packet loss rate of the FST800211G3451-25B sensor group reached 15%. In terms of power supply configuration, although the CPS-C pressure transmitter is nominally compatible with a wide voltage input of 12-36VDC,actual testing shows that when the voltage is lower than 18VDC,the signal-to-noise ratio of its internal AD converter drops by 6dB,directly affecting the achievement of the 0.1% accuracy specification.
The installation manual of the HDA4445-A-100-Y00 specifically emphasizes:the zero point needs to be recalibrated for every 10℃ change in ambient temperature. This is because the typical sensitivity temperature coefficient of diffused silicon sensors is 0.02%/℃. Under high-temperature operating conditions(such as refinery reactors),the diaphragm temperature of a PTG-PTG702 pressure transmitter without a heat sink may be 25℃ higher than the ambient temperature. In this case,three-point temperature compensation should be performed according to the IEC 60751 standard. In terms of protection rating, although IP65 certification provides dust and water resistance,if the RC-RC301 is directly installed in an outdoor rainstorm environment, capillary action at the cable inlet can still cause water ingress failures. It is recommended to refer to the protection design of Domestic Liquid Level Transmitter KYB19 Fire Water Tank Pool Liquid Level Sensor:adopt a double-layer O-ring sealing structure and verify it through a 100-hour salt spray test. For applications with a condensation risk(such as cold storage),DC200 silicone oil should be filled inside the sensor cavity, which can both conduct heat and prevent condensation.
After installation, the PD50-GB10CM20M4M pressure transmitter must undergo dual-mode verification:static testing uses a piston pressure gauge(accuracy class 0.05 or higher),with ascending/descending tests performed at five points of the range:0%,25%,50%,75%,and 100%,and nonlinearity should be ≤0.1%FS;dynamic testing requires a step pressure generator to detect response time, ensuring the 1ms fast response characteristics of the STZ2-3 model. A common mistake is to perform only single-point calibration(usually at the midpoint of the range),which cannot detect segmented linearity errors of the sensor across the entire range. A water utilities group once failed to conduct full-range testing on a CY-H pressure transmitter, resulting in a 1.2m measurement deviation at 90% of the range in the reservoir water level monitoring system. It is recommended to establish a complete calibration record file with reference to the GB/T 17614.1-2015 standard.
Although the CPS-C pressure transmitter is nominally stable at ±0.2%FS/year,its actual service life is greatly affected by operating conditions. In media containing solid particles(such as slurry pump outlets),it is recommended to disassemble and inspect diaphragm wear every 3 months. For products such as SAM-K that use laser trimming compensation technology,do not adjust the potentiometer without authorization——maintenance personnel at a steel plant once tried to manually correct zero drift, but instead damaged the temperature compensation curve set at the factory. The correct diagnostic method is:first measure the power supply voltage(24VDC±10%),then check whether the output current has a linear relationship with the measured pressure, and finally read the sensor self-diagnostic information through a HART communicator. When an E110(sensor over-range)alarm occurs,it often means the diaphragm has undergone irreversible deformation and must be returned to the factory for repair.
