As a core component of industrial process control, the installation quality of the PT-605 pressure transmitter directly affects measurement accuracy and equipment service life. This article focuses on four common installation pitfalls of similar pressure transmitters such as MPM4780 and PT-709: improper sealing, electrical interference, vibration impact, and media compatibility. Drawing on 15 years of industry experience from Xi’an Shenghongchuang Instrumentation Co., Ltd., it provides practical solutions for technical evaluation personnel.
In the field installation of the PT-605 pressure transmitter and similar products such as MPM4891, our statistics show that more than 67% of accuracy deviation cases are directly related to sealing processes. Technical evaluation personnel should pay special attention to: 1) when using PTFE sealing tape for threaded connections, maintain 2-3 wraps to prevent debris from entering the pressure chamber; 2) for flange installation, select matching gasket materials according to the ASME B16.5 standard, and for corrosive media, it is recommended to use Shenghongchuang’s patented 316L stainless steel spiral wound gasket; 3) after installation, a 24-hour pressure holding test must be carried out, and the pressure value should be maintained at 1.5 times the measuring range.
When the PT-309 pressure transmitter is located in the same workshop as frequency converters and high-power motors, electromagnetic interference can cause fluctuations of ±0.5% in the 4-20mA signal. The engineering team at Xi’an Shenghongchuang recommends three levels of protection: 1) use AWG22 twisted-pair shielded cable, with the shield grounded at one end; 2) keep the signal cable at least 30cm away from power cables in parallel spacing, or arrange vertical crossing; 3) in high-frequency interference scenarios such as PT-509, a signal isolator must be installed. Measured data show that this solution can improve signal stability by 80%.
For applications of the ATE316 pressure transmitter in high-vibration scenarios such as compressors and pump stations, our FFT spectrum analysis found that when the external vibration frequency approaches the sensor’s natural frequency (usually 550-650Hz), the pressure-sensitive element will develop structural fatigue. Solutions include: 1) install the device more than 3 meters away from the vibration source; 2) use hydraulic buffer brackets to reduce vibration transmission; 3) when selecting Shenghongchuang PPM-T230B series products, their internal damping design can control vibration impact within 0.1%FS.
Cases of diaphragm perforation in PT-307 pressure transmitters in the chlor-alkali industry show that media compatibility assessment must include the two-dimensional parameters of temperature-concentration. It is recommended that technical evaluation personnel: 1) refer to the ASTM G31 standard for material corrosion resistance testing; 2) for special media such as hydrofluoric acid, Hastelloy C276 diaphragms must be selected; 3) viscous media require the installation of a flushing ring.
