1. Working principle of differential transformer displacement sensor :

A differential transformer is a sensor that converts linear displacement into analog voltage. Due to its integral structure, it exhibits excellent durability and environmental resistance, with an operating temperature range of -20 to 120 . The differential transformer consists of a primary coil, a secondary coil, and a movable iron core. A sinusoidal excitation wave of a certain voltage and frequency is applied to the primary coil. This induces a voltage in the secondary coil through the movable iron core. Its output characteristic is that the differential output of the two secondary coils is an AC voltage with the same frequency as the excitation signal. This voltage is converted into a DC displacement voltage by a detection circuit and then output. The detection circuit consists of rectifier diodes and an RC filter. The measurement range is the movement distance of the movable iron core, typically from a few mm to several hundred mm . When the movable iron core is in the center position, the output voltage is 0V ; when it moves left or right, it generates positive and negative voltages proportional to the movement distance. Its linearity is less than 1 %, and the detection accuracy reaches several μm ; the error increases when the specified travel distance is exceeded.

2. Uses and features :  

Differential transformer displacement sensors offer excellent environmental adaptability and are widely used to measure various physical quantities that have been pre-converted into displacements, as well as mechanical quantities that can be converted into displacement changes (such as tension, pressure, vibration, liquid level, etc.). The sensor 's amplification circuit employs microelectronics technology and is entirely encapsulated in a stainless steel housing. Input voltage is 12V DC to 24V DC , and output signals are ±5V , 0 to 5V , 0 to 10V , or 0 to 10 mA , 0.4 to 20mA . It can be used with a 4.5-digit digital display. In use, simply clamp the sensor housing to a reference object and place the probe tip (or clamp it) at the point being measured to directly measure the relative displacement between objects. The features are: ① No moving contacts, high reliability, and long lifespan; ② High resolution and good sensitivity; ③ High linearity and good repeatability; ④ Wide measurement range (low resolution when the measurement range is large); ⑤ Zero-point output voltage when there is no input, causing measurement error; ⑥ High requirements for the frequency and amplitude stability of the excitation power supply, not suitable for high-frequency dynamic measurement.

3. Precautions:

1. Although the circuit employs internal power protection measures, users should still check the circuit before connecting the power. Do not exceed the rated voltage value to avoid affecting the accuracy of measurements and causing unnecessary losses.

2. The sensor should not be installed near a strong magnetic field. Unless otherwise specified, the sensor should not be used in an environment that strongly corrodes metals.

3. The trajectory of the measured point should ideally be parallel to the axis of the sensor's probe. This ensures the measurement result is the amount of movement. If the sensor probe moves, the contact surface between the probe and the object being measured should not be uneven.

4. When installing and using the sensor, handle it gently to avoid knocking or dropping. The clamps should be fixed at both ends of the sensor. Do not use excessive force, and do not allow the housing to dent or deform, which may affect the measurement range. Do not use it beyond the measurement range.

5. Please power on the sensor and warm it up for 5 minutes before performing any measurements.

6. Displacement sensors are precision instruments and have undergone calibration and aging before leaving the factory. Users should not disassemble them at will, otherwise it will affect the accuracy of the measurement and may damage the sensor.

During transportation and storage, restore the original packaging and store in a cool, dry, and ventilated warehouse. 7. The quality guarantee period is 12 months (damage caused by improper use such as pressure overload or incorrect wiring is not covered by the quality guarantee). 8.
