1Working principle of differential transformer displacement sensor

A differential transformer is a sensor that converts linear displacement into analog voltage. Because it is constructed as an integrated structure,it offers excellent durability and environmental resistance,with an operating temperature range of -20 ~120。The differential transformer consists of a primary coil,secondary coils and a movable iron core. A sine-wave excitation with a certain voltage and frequency is applied to the primary coil. Through the movable iron core,an induced voltage is generated in the secondary coils,and its output characteristicisthat the differential output of the two secondary coils is an AC voltage at the same frequency as the excitation signal,which is converted by the detection circuit into a DC displacement voltage for output. The detection circuit consists of rectifier diodes and anRC filter. The measuring range is the travel of the movable iron core,generally from several +mm to several hundred mm。When the movable iron core is at the center position,the output voltage is 0V:when it moves left or right,positive and negative voltages proportional to the displacement distance are generated. Its linearity is less than 1%,and the detection accuracy reaches several μ m;when the specified travel is exceeded,the error increases.

2、Applications and features 

The differential transformer displacement sensor has good environmental adaptability and is widely used to measure various physical quantities that have been converted into displacement in advance,as well as mechanical quantities that can be converted into displacement changes(such as tension,pressure,vibration,liquid level,etc.).The sensor'samplifier circuit adopts microelectronic technology,and is integrallyencapsulatedin a stainless steel housing. Input voltage12VDC24VDC,output signals±5V05V010V or 010mA0420mA signals,and it can be used with a four-and-a-half-digit digital display meter. During use,simply clamp the sensor housing onto the reference object,and place the tip of its measuring rod(or clamp)on the measured point,then the relative displacement between objects can be measured directly.Features:①No moving contacts,high reliability,long service life;②High resolution and good sensitivity;③High linearity and good repeatability;④Wide measuring range(when the measuring range is large,the resolution is low);⑤There is zero-position output voltage when there is no input,causing measurement error;⑥High requirements for the frequency and amplitude stability of the excitation power supply,not suitable for high-frequency dynamic measurement.

3、Precautions:

1. Although the circuit adopts internal power supply protection measures,users are still requested to check it before turning on the power. Do not exceed the rated voltage value,so as not to affect measurement accuracy or cause unnecessary losses.

2. The installation position of the sensor should not be close to strong magnetic fields. Unless otherwise specified,the sensor must not be used in environments that are highly corrosive to metals.

3.The movement trajectory of the measured point should preferably be parallel to the axis of the sensor measuring rod. In this way,the measurement result is the displacement. If the sensor probe moves,the contact surface between the probe and the measured object should not be uneven.

4.When installing and using the sensor,handle it with care,avoid knocking and dropping,and the fixture should be fixed at both ends of the sensor. Do not apply excessive force,and do not allow dents or deformation of the housing that may affect the measuring range. Please do not use it beyond the measuring range.

5.Please power on the sensor and preheat it for 5 minutes before formal measurement and use.

6.The displacement sensor is a precision instrument,and it has been calibrated and aged before leaving the factory. Users must not disassemble it at will,otherwise measurement accuracy may be affected and the sensor may be damaged.

Customized products have a lead time and cannot be returned or exchanged.
