Electromagnetic flowmeter model selection directly affects measurement accuracy and equipment life。This article focuses on medium compatibility issues of the MGG/KL series electromagnetic flowmeters(including the MGG/KL-GB and MGG/KL-DC model types)from key parameters such as conductivity、corrosivity and solids content,providing technical assessors with a scientific selection methodology and helping to match SDLDB、BTLD requirements under different operating conditions。
The operating principle of electromagnetic flowmeters is based on Faraday's law of electromagnetic induction,and the measured medium needs to have a certain conductivity。In the MGG/KL series,MGG/KL-GB electromagnetic flowmeters are designed for low-conductivity liquids(≤5µS/cm)with high-frequency excitation technology,capable of stable measurement of pure water or weakly acidic and alkaline liquids;MGG/KL-DC electromagnetic flowmeters are suitable for high-conductivity media(such as industrial wastewater、strong acids and alkalis),with electrode material of Hastelloy C276,and conductivity compatibility range can reach 0.1~200,000µS/cm。
If medium conductivity fluctuates greatly,recommend the MGG/KL-CDC electromagnetic flowmeter。It has an internal adaptive signal-processing module that can compensate in real time for measurement deviations caused by conductivity changes。According to ISO 6817,when medium conductivity is below the threshold,consider using a capacitive or ultrasonic flowmeter as a replacement solution。
Corrosive-media model selection needs to evaluate the chemical compatibility of electrode and lining materials at the same time。SDLDB electromagnetic flowmeters are typically equipped with platinum electrodes and PTFE linings,suitable for concentrated sulfuric acid、hydrofluoric acid and other strong-corrosive environments;BTLD electromagnetic flowmeters use 316L electrodes with a silicon carbide ceramic lining combination,which is more suitable for nitric acid、weakly alkaline solutions。
The MGG/KL series provides modular material options:MGG/KL-QC electromagnetic flowmeters are provided with silicon carbide electrodes and polycarbonate linings as standard,with excellent wear resistance;MGG/KL-DW electromagnetic flowmeters use copper electrodes+ceramic linings and can withstand high-temperature corrosive media(max 180℃)。Model selection should be validated by material corrosion-resistance testing according to ASTM G31-12a。
For media containing solids such as slurry and mud,MGG/KL-GG electromagnetic flowmeters use non-contact electrodes and reinforced PTFE linings(4mm),avoiding particle wear;their flow-rate range should be controlled between 0.3~10m/s,to prevent low-speed deposition or high-speed scouring。If solid content exceeds 20%,MGG/KL-CC electromagnetic flowmeters are recommended,whose patented oblique-blade electrode design can periodically self-clean。
In practical applications,attention should be paid to avoid selecting traditional electromagnetic flowmeters when magnetic particles are present,and the special anti-magnetic interference design of MGG/KL-DW electromagnetic flowmeters can be considered。According to GB/T 18659-2018,an additional allowance of ±0.5% can be added to the measurement error for solids-containing media。
MGG/KL-DC electromagnetic flowmeters adopt a split-body structure,and the sensor section can withstand 6.4MPa pressure and 200℃ high temperature,suitable for measurement of steam condensate water or hot oil。When selecting,the flange class and temperature derating curve need to be checked。
