YMP-YMP489 Pressure Transmitter Calibration Guide: 3 Steps to Solve Accuracy Issues of Diffused Silicon Sensors
Added to Favorites:125

In the field of flow control equipment, the accuracy issues of the diffused silicon sensor in the YMP-YMP489 pressure transmitter often trouble technical evaluators. This article provides a 3-step professional calibration guide to help you quickly resolve accuracy deviation issues in pressure transmitters such as the YM-1KGR and DMK331 series, while also covering practical technical points such as YM-115 troubleshooting and YD-322 accuracy grades.

Working Principle and Technical Challenges of Diffused Silicon Pressure Sensors

Diffused silicon pressure sensors are based on the piezoresistive effect principle. When external pressure acts on the silicon diaphragm, its resistance value changes accordingly. This type of sensor is known for its high sensitivity, excellent linearity, and long-term stability, and is widely used in pressure transmitters such as YM-1QQ and YD-322. However, in practical applications, technical evaluators often face three major challenges: zero drift, temperature effects, and nonlinear error. Taking the YM-130 pressure transmitter as an example, every 10℃ change in ambient temperature may cause a measurement deviation of 0.5%FS, while the MBS-G3131 model may experience zero drift of 0.3%FS/year after long-term use. These issues directly affect the flow control accuracy of key equipment such as YSZK-01G-C.

3-Step Calibration Method for YMP-YMP489 Pressure Transmitter

Step 1: Zero calibration should be performed under no-load conditions. Through the supporting HART communicator or local button adjustment, accurately calibrate the output signal of the YM-1XH transmitter to 4mA(or 0VDC). It is recommended to use a standard ammeter with accuracy better than 0.01% for verification. This step can eliminate the common zero drift fault of the YM-115.

Step 2: Full-scale calibration requires applying rated pressure(such as 250kPa for DMK331-250-4000), and adjusting the gain potentiometer so that the output reaches 20mA(or 10VDC). It should be especially noted that for gas medium sensors such as YM-1KGR, a dry and clean gas source must be used to avoid errors caused by calibration with liquid media.

Step 3: Temperature compensation calibration is the most critical step. The output characteristics of models such as YD-322 should be tested at three temperature points: 0℃, 25℃, and 50℃, and nonlinear errors should be corrected through the built-in temperature compensation algorithm. Xi'an Shenghongchuang's patented technology can reduce temperature effects to within 0.1%FS/10℃.

Common Fault Diagnosis and Solutions

Problem 1: YM-115 display value jumps is usually caused by power supply interference or poor grounding. It is recommended to check the 24VDC power ripple(should be<50mV)and ensure single-point grounding. Xi'an Shenghongchuang's EMC design enables the equipment to pass IEC61000-4-3 standard testing.

Problem 2: MBS-G3131 output saturation is often caused by sensor overload. It is necessary to check whether the pipeline is blocked or whether the selected pressure range is insufficient. For liquid medium applications such as YSZK-01G-C, it is recommended to install a pressure snubber.

Problem 3: YM-1XH communication failure may be caused by incorrect HART protocol configuration. It is necessary to confirm the device address and communication rate settings. Our company provides intelligent diagnostic functions compliant with IEC 61508 SIL2 certification, which can automatically identify more than 90% of communication faults.
