7 key parameter settings for the application of the LDC-2A electromagnetic flowmeter in chemical parks

In flow monitoring in chemical parks, the key parameter settings of the LDC-2A electromagnetic flowmeter directly affect measurement accuracy and equipment service life. This article reveals 7 core parameters that are often overlooked, especially the 4th key setting ignored by 80% of users, helping technical evaluators optimize the performance of DNLDJ, L-MAG and other series of electromagnetic flowmeters in corrosive media.

1. Electrode material selection and matching with corrosive media

In the application of the LDC-2A electromagnetic flowmeter in chemical parks, the selection of electrode material is directly related to the long-term stability of the equipment. For corrosive media such as strong acids and strong alkalis, titanium alloy or tantalum electrodes are recommended. The DNLDJ series adopts special PTFE lining technology, which can effectively resist corrosion from sulfuric acid at a concentration of 98%. During technical evaluation, attention should be paid to:

  • For hydrochloric acid media, Hastelloy electrodes are preferred
  • Tantalum electrodes are suitable for sodium hydroxide solutions
  • For mixed organic acids, platinum-iridium alloy is recommended

Measured data from Xi'an Shenghongchuang show that correctly matching electrode materials can extend the service life of L-MAG electromagnetic flowmeters by 3-5 times within the PH value range of 2-12.

2. Relationship between lining thickness and medium temperature

The thickness setting of the inserted PTFE lining is often underestimated. When the medium temperature exceeds 80℃, the lining thickness needs to be increased by 0.5mm for every additional 10℃. The standard 3mm lining of the LDC-2A is suitable for:

Medium TemperatureRecommended lining thicknessApplicable models
≤80℃3mmDN18LDE/LDQ Series
80-120℃4.5mmLDDC/ZFG-F Series
>120℃6mmARSLDE Customized Model

Actual cases show that a chemical plant failed to adjust the lining thickness of the LDT-50D, resulting in lining deformation when transporting 130℃ hot brine, with a measurement error reaching ±15%.

3. Grounding ring configuration and conductivity threshold

When the medium conductivity is lower than 5μS/cm, a dedicated grounding ring must be configured. The intelligent grounding system of the LDC-2A can automatically detect:

  1. Real-time conductivity monitoring accuracy reaches 0.1μS/cm
  2. When the critical value is detected, the standby electrode is automatically activated
  3. Warning signals are output via MODBUS

In pure water systems, the DNLDE electromagnetic flowmeter used together with a grounding ring can improve measurement stability by more than 60%.

4. Stepwise setting of the flow velocity range (ignored by 80% of users)

Most users directly adopt the default range of 0.5-10m/s, but in fact it should be configured stepwise according to the characteristics of chemical media:

  • High-viscosity fluids: 0.3-3m/s
  • Particle-containing slurry: 1-5m/s
  • Media prone to crystallization: ≥2m/s

Engineering cases from Xi'an Shenghongchuang show that after adopting the optimized range of 0.8-6m/s for the L-MAG electromagnetic flowmeter, the electrode scaling rate decreased by 72% when transporting lime slurry with a solids content of 30%.

5. Dynamic adjustment of excitation frequency

The LDC-2A supports intelligent excitation frequency adjustment of 1/16-75Hz, with recommendations for different scenarios as follows:

Media TypeRecommended frequencyAccuracy improvement
Low conductivity6.25Hz±0.8%→±0.3%
Contains bubbles25HzBubble impact reduced by 40%
High noise75HzSignal-to-noise ratio increased by 30dB

6. Calibration of empty pipe detection sensitivity

Under intermittent conveying conditions in chemical parks, the empty pipe detection threshold of the LDC-2A is recommended to be set as:

  1. Conventional liquids: triggered by 5% conductivity change
  2. Media prone to crystallization: triggered by 3% change
  3. Increase to 8% when equipped with an automatic flushing function

Actual tests show that the DNLDJ electromagnetic flowmeter can reduce false alarms by 23% through optimized empty pipe detection parameters.

7. Anti-interference configuration of output signals

In environments with strong electromagnetic interference (such as near frequency converters), the following need to be enabled:

  • 4-20mA output superimposed with HART protocol
  • Pulse output uses photoelectric isolation
  • RS485 communication enables CRC32 verification

After using shielded twisted-pair cables and enabling the above configuration, the LDC-2A of a chlor-alkali chemical plant achieved signal transmission stability of 99.98%.

Professional recommendations for improving the accuracy of chemical flow measurement

As a high-tech enterprise focused on flow control equipment for 20 years, Xi'an Shenghongchuang Instrument Co., Ltd. recommends:

  1. Perform electrode polarization calibration every quarter
  2. Replace lining sealing components every year
  3. Establish a database correlating medium characteristics with parameters

Our LDC-2A, DNLDJ and other series of electromagnetic flowmeters have all passed SIL2 certification, and the reliability of the parameter optimization scheme has been verified in projects such as Shaanxi Beiyuan Chemical and Yanchang Petroleum.
