As a key device for industrial flow measurement,the installation and commissioning of the HQLDC electromagnetic flowmeter directly affect measurement accuracy and stability。This article addresses typical issues commonly encountered in engineering applications of HQLDC,HQLDE-C and other series electromagnetic flowmeters,such as installation location selection,grounding treatment,and parameter settings,and provides verified solutions to help technical personnel avoid 80% of on-site commissioning risks。
During the installation of the HQLDC electromagnetic flowmeter,location selection is the primary factor to consider。Common mistakes made by many technicians include installing the flowmeter near the pump outlet or at the highest point of the pipeline。In fact,these locations are prone to generating bubbles and vortices,seriously affecting measurement accuracy。According to the recommendations of the ISO 6817 standard,electromagnetic flowmeters should be installed at the lowest point of the pipeline or on a horizontal section,and it should be ensured that there is a straight pipe section of at least 5 times the pipe diameter upstream and a straight pipe section of at least 3 times the pipe diameter downstream。For high-precision devices such as the HQLDE-C electromagnetic flowmeter,this specification should be followed even more strictly。
Another common issue is ignoring the impact of medium conductivity on the installation location。When measuring low-conductivity media(such as deionized water),the HQLDJ electromagnetic flowmeter requires longer grounding electrodes to ensure signal stability。We once handled a case in which a pharmaceutical plant installed an LDW electromagnetic flowmeter on an insulated pipeline,resulting in a measurement error as high as 15%;after adding grounding rings and adjusting the installation location,the error was reduced to within 0.5%。
Poor grounding is the main cause of unstable measurement in HQLDC electromagnetic flowmeters。According to the IEC 61326 standard,the grounding resistance of an electromagnetic flowmeter should be less than 10Ω。In practice,we have found that the following three situations require special attention:plastic pipeline systems,cathodically protected pipelines,and environments with strong electromagnetic interference。For applications of the HQLDG electromagnetic flowmeter on plastic pipelines,dedicated grounding rings must be used and connected to an independent grounding electrode through a copper conductor of at least 4mm²。
For cathodically protected pipelines commonly used in the chemical industry,the HQLDE-DC electromagnetic flowmeter requires special isolated grounding technology。The solution we designed for a petrochemical project was:install one insulating flange upstream and downstream of the flowmeter respectively,while using a zinc anode as auxiliary grounding,which both protects the pipeline and ensures measurement accuracy。This solution has been successfully applied in more than 30 similar projects,reducing the failure rate by over 90%。
Improper parameter settings can cause issues such as zero drift and inaccurate range in the HQLDW electromagnetic flowmeter。According to statistics from our engineering database,80% of on-site failures originate from errors in the following three parameter settings:flow unit,damping time,and electrode constant。Especially when the LDC electromagnetic flowmeter is used to measure corrosive media,the electrode constant needs to be dynamically adjusted according to the characteristics of the medium。The table below lists the recommended parameter setting ranges for different media:
